About us

A young man in a black hoodie and jeans standing next to a mini excavator in an autumn forest with colorful leaves.

I’m Hunter Arvold, owner of New Horizon Earthworks. I grew up in Rice Lake and have lived here my whole life. Like most boys, I always enjoyed playing in the dirt. While I was in high school, I worked for a landscaping company for a few years. Shortly after graduation, I began working for a large excavation company doing heavy civil work. I discovered that the bigger the machines, the more I enjoyed the work, but it still didn’t feel quite right. I took a break from excavating to become an electrician and, to my surprise, ended up on a dirt crew again—playing in the dirt once more. That experience made it clear it was time to return. After working for a small excavation company in my hometown, I decided to strike out on my own. I couldn’t be more appreciative of the customers and the community who have supported me and helped me reach this point. I look forward to continuing to provide exceptional service and watching the company’s growth.
